Elevator
Draft project for iPhone & iWatch
A quick, intuitive interface designed for easy elevator access and control through location-based activation.
My role involved conceptualizing user-friendly features, optimizing the design for accessibility, and incorporating feedback to ensure a seamless experience.
Goal
This new feature provides users with a seamless way to interact with the elevator system by allowing them to call the elevator and select their destination effortlessly. The design focuses on simplicity and clarity, ensuring the process is intuitive for users of all tech backgrounds.

When the user opens the app inside or near to the building, the elevator button will be enabled. By clicking on the button a screen will show all the available floors, an emergency button and also will tell the user in which floor and building he/she is at. This information will be received from the Wireless Location Sensors.
A countdown will tell the user for how long he/she has wait for the elevator to come and will also show which of elevators was assigned to him/her. While going to the chosen floor, the user will be able to see to which floor he/she is going to and will have an option of cancelling and choosing another floor. When he/she finally arrives to the chosen floor, the application will show the floor where the user is currently at and will go back to main screen automatically after 2 seconds.
User Flow
Sketches
NOT OK: At the beginning I was not considering that calling an elevator should be something simple and the ideas that came to my mind were too complicated. While working on the rest of the ideas I also tried to figure out some more methods to find out the floor where the user is at but it was complicated and very time consuming. I was also thinking about the first time in the building, maybe a screen that tells you where to go could help to new employees or customers that came for a visit.

OK: And then, this idea that could be a good option and is to have the iWatch device also implemented. Next to the main phone application I felt that the simple interactions are probably the most comfortable way to call the elevator and forget about all the rest of extras that, at the end, will just disturb the attention of the user.

The button will be located on top of the screen. It makes the usage faster and easier to interact with it. The elevator is an everyday tool that must be accessible, easy to understand and fast. The button will only be enabled if the device has connection to Location Sensors.

In the main elevator screen, the name of the building you are currently in will be indicated on top due to the location sensors. Clicking on the floor where you wish to go, an elevator will be assigned to you and bring you to the chosen floor.
The floor which you are at will be marked with red location icon next to the department name.

It is also possible to make an emergency call if there’s any issue with the elevator.

When the elevator is on its way, a countdown will inform you when it is possible to enter the elevator. While the elevator is going to its destination, it will show the floor and department to be found there.

You can easily cancel the elevator call by simply pushing the “cancel” button and also choose a different floor in case of misclick.
